Students lead their specific research projects and are supported in a number of ways, including:
Supervision framework – a research-active Director of Studies with a supervisory team of experts in relevant fields of research. Regular meetings, guidance and progression reviews. Each student is allocated their own workspace.
An open door culture – »ئة«تسئµ open door culture enables students to seek support and guidance from their supervisors as well as other »ئة«تسئµ researchers and support staff.
ICT support – »ئة«تسئµ has a dedicated team of ICT specialists on campus who can advise on any specialised computing requirements as well as managing day-to-day computing needs.
Student support – we all face challenges at some point in our life. Students are therefore offered wellbeing support by »ئة«تسئµ Graduate School and can be referred to counselling or signposted to other relevant support specialists. All PGR students are issued with a student support handbook covering local and online support services.
Research seminars – The »ئة«تسئµ seminar series runs throughout the year, welcoming expert speakers on a wide range of research topics and the PGR Community are encouraged to participate as well as attend.
Networking – students are encouraged to join relevant networks, such as Ocean Systems, Dynamic Coasts, Blue Economy or research clusters such as M,ESE (link to ).
»ئة«تسئµ Enterprise – »ئة«تسئµ Enterprise provides specialist marine consultancy and survey services, under pinned by the world leading science of its parent organisation the Scottish Association for Marine Science (»ئة«تسئµ). We work to enable clients to understand and mitigate the risks involved in industry interaction with the marine environment; to maximise productivity and enhance sustainability. Where relevant, postgraduate research students can benefit from collaboration with »ئة«تسئµ Enterprise and contribute to commercial activities and associated research.
